Current Combo: Urban Decay Dark Horse, Illamasqua Katie, MAC Creme D' Nude

L-R: Urban Decay Dark Horse, Illamasqua Katie, MAC Creme D' Nude
After a long period of not wearing eye shadow, I felt that I should probably start using some of the eye shadows I've collected, and busted out my trusty naked palette. The colors that I almost always go for are naked, sidecar, and occasionally buck, but I was feeling a smokey look that day and used darkhorse.
I paired it with my new all-time favorite blush, Illamasqua's Katie, and a nude lip to pull it all together. I am in love with this look and have been trying to get as many wears in before spring weather has me wearing lighter makeup.
Darkhorse is a beautiful cool-toned dark brown with gold flecks of shimmer. It is super creamy and glides onto the lids without losing its pigmentation. It also blends out really easily and leaves you with a nice smokey eye without needing any other eye shadows. I've found that with my eyelids, eye shadows look better when there isn't a heavy crease color or anything really blended above my natural fold, so I've been doing a lot of single eye shadow looks, which makes it so much easier!
When paired with katie blush it is unbelievable - the combination just makes them each even better.
I love the naked palette, but haven't experimented with it nearly as much as I would like to. For now, I am crazy about this combo and looking forward to finding more favorites from the palette.

  1. Darkhorse is stunning! I keep wavering on the naked palettes. All the colors are so similar to ones I already have but....still, it's just so perfectly altogether in one place. Lol!

    1. Thank you! I do love a good eye shadow but for some reason I always end up not wearing them too much or wearing the same ones over and over again

    1. You should def get it! It is so pigmented that it really shows up pretty true to color. I've been using my MAC 109 and it works great!

  9. Your swatches make everything look so amazing! I was lemming the Naked palette for over a year and my boyfriend bought it for me for my birthday in December but I have used it less than 3 times.... I've never even used Darkhorse! You've inspired me to use my Naked Palette now so thankyou very much ^^ I was wondering if I should get Katie because I'm scared it's too light to show up on my skintone. It looks lovely on you :)

    1. Thank you! Haha yea sometimes I forget about it too and then I feel bad because it's such a nice (and expensive) palette! I LOVE katie. It's extremely pigmented and shows up really nicely on the skin and to me it goes with everything!

  11. I rarely use any colors besides gunmetal and creep (you know I love a crazy smoky eye), but when i wanted to do a subdued eye for interviews i used naked on my lid and dark horse on my crease and I loved it!!

As for the lip stick, I am in the market for either a soft pink or nude and the new Nicki Minaj lip stick is almost too light pink for me. This seems like a great color. I have Boy bait and I feel like together they would be a great pair! Any thoughts?
