Color Block

When I first got this shirt, I loved it but I had no idea how to wear it. It is that weird length that is too long for shorts, and just looks strange when paired with jeans. So, it stayed hanging in my closet until one day I saw it randomly laying next to these peachy orange shorts and I could not resist this accidental color block.
I paired it with a set of peach and gold bangles from Charlotte Russe mixed with a few gold stone bracelets from Forever21 - these come in a set and are perfect for mixing in with other bracelets.
My shirt finally got to see the light of day in an outfit that I love.
It looks great with a pair of nude flats, or pumps for a dressier look.

Thursday Sights

Freshly painted nude pink nails with a glitter accent: OPI bubble bath + Sephora by OPI only gold for me
Breaking out the NARS Sheer Glow for some extra coverage, and loving it so far.
Discovering that olive eye shadow looks good with my skin tone right now. This one from the Sleek original palette is especially good with MAC's wedge eye shadow.
Planning for my upcoming trip to China =)
Finishing up a diy upholstered headboard project that was inspired by this one here

Links to Love

Image from weheartit.com
Could I Have That - one of those blogs that has a little bit of everything and does it with style. From outfits to tasty looking treats, Samantha's blog presents inspiration in every corner.

Sincerely Jules - a fashion blog that makes you want to go through every image. This girl has the most amazing hair that goes along with her edgy style. This post of hers has got me seriously contemplating deep red lips...

Lil Lady's Life - such a cute blog! She's got amazing pictures and creative posts about outfits, beauty products, and a lot of other good stuff. She has quickly become one of my favorites =)

Delyteful Speaks - I've been following this girl for a while, and her blog just keeps getting better and better. Her reviews are short and to the point and I really trust her opinion because it seems like she has tried almost every product under the sun.

Everyday Minerals - I have heard a lot of good things about this brand, but just never bothered to actually look at their products. When I went on their website yesterday I was pleasantly surprised by all the different blush and eye shadow colors they had to offer - almost all were colors that I would love. They currently have a sale on their blushes making them very tempting at $5 a piece.

Hope you enjoy

An Unlikely Pair

My skin has been going nuts recently and so I've laid off the face makeup while it recovers. But that doesn't stop me from playing with my eye makeup...
As I've mentioned before I really like the Covergirl quad, urban basics, especially the light lavender color. I have been trying to find different ways to wear it, and today while going through my makeup, I randomly decided to pair it with club by MAC to see how it would look. Surprisingly this green-y brown eye shadow blended in really well with the lavender and it turned into a deep purple while still maintaining its signature murky brown look - a pleasant surprise, and one that makes for a really dimensional smokey lavender eye.

I swiped the lavender shade all over my lid. To get the most color out of this eye shadow I put it over MAC's painterly paint pot and ditched my usual MAC 239 brush for a fatter and denser one by Essence of Beauty.
For club I used a "pencil" type brush from Confidential so that I could be more precise about where I placed the color. It made it a lot easier to define my crease since I have such small eyelids, and draw out the elongated shape that I wanted.

I did a thin line of Maybelline's lasting drama gel eyeliner on my upper lashline and one coat of Rimmel's lash accelerator mascara.
I also added a pale gold eyeliner (smashbox 14K) on my lower lashes for good measure.

This looks really good with a peachy nude lipstick like Revlon's soft nude, but then again, so does everything.
{conveniently covering up the worst parts of my skin}

I'm glad I found this amazing combo and another reason to love club eyeshadow =)

Top Summer Nail Polishes

Or more like top essie summer nail polishes. I didn't realize before I picked these out that they were going to be all, save for one, essie. I do own other brands of nail polish, but I guess there's just something about bright, summery essie polishes that I can't resist.
I chose these not only because I love the colors, but also because the formulas are nice and easy to work with. You don't always get lucky with essie nail polishes - van d'go is the perfect example of a beautiful color, but a crap formula.
L-R: Essie's borrowed & blue, status symbol, lollipop

I love baby blue nail polish no matter what time of year it is, but it is especially nice in the summer. The one I am currently liking is essie's borrowed & blue, a sky blue that looks great with a tan and against the brighter colors of my summer wardrobe.

Status symbol is probably my favorite magenta pink, because it pulls more pink than magenta. It applies like a dream and makes a bold, girly statement.

Lollipop is a really vibrant, bright red. I don't usually like red nail polish, but this one is a young, fresh version of a classic color. It looks especially good on short nails.
{The picture isn't doing justice to the color of status symbol}

L-R: Essie's tart deco, boat house, OPI panda-monium pink

Tart deco is a really interesting color. In different lighting it can look anywhere from a salmon-y coral to a bright orange, which makes it impossible to photograph, but pretty nonetheless. I love all the different shades it can be and I get lots of compliments when I wear this =).

I've talked about boat house before, but I couldn't do this post without including it. It is a hot coral color that is ridiculously easy to apply. It is such an appropriate summer color and it just makes me happy

Lastly is panda-monium pink, a pinky lilac shade. I really only break this out during the hot weather months - it is a nice change when I want to get away from the pink/coral end of the color spectrum.
A recently discovered nail product that I will never go without from now on - Sally Hansen's Dries Instantly top coat. I can paint this on one hand, and by the time I am done painting the other one, the first hand is already dry to touch. If you are like me, and cannot sit still after a freshly painted manicure, you need this. It's a lot better than seche vite in my opinion.

I also recently got a pale yellow polish, Orly's lemonade, that I am dying to try and will most likely be added to this list =).
