Sleek Scandalous Blush

Here is Sleek Scandalous, probably one of the scariest looking blushes I own. It is bright red; quite different from the run of the mill pinks, peaches, and corals that we tend to see in blushes. When I first saw this I was at first shocked, but figured that it would be one of those blushes that looks scary in the pan, but gives a really pretty, unique color on the cheek.
The packaging of these blushes is really nice; it is a lot smaller in person than I imagined, which makes it great for travelling and it still carries a significant amount of product (.28 oz). Not that I will even need half of that amount in my lifetime considering how little of this you need of this. Literally one light dab is enough for each cheek.
Scandalous is a true matte red color - there are no orange or pink undertones, simply bright red. When swatched it looks like it should be a lipstick color rather than a blush color. It does take a bit of work to blend it in evenly as the powder does not transfer very well, but this is easily done with my MAC 109.

This blush reminds me a lot of MAC's Virgin Isle Cream Colour Base, one of my favorite blushes, which I believe is a pro product. However, when swatched Virign Isle looks a lot more
The picture is making it look more like a brick red, but in person it is much more vibrant!
On the cheek, I feel that both blushes give a really similar effect, although virgin isle may be a bit more flattering because of its pink undertones. Scandalous looks great with some bronzer; it really brightens up the face and makes you look healthy and fresh. It would also work great in the wintertime, for that English rose look.
I love blush colors like these. They give you a look like you've just been out in the sun for the day and are a refreshing change for the summer.

Would you try this? Or does the color in the pan turn you away?

MAC Stylishly Yours must-haves

The other day I went to my MAC counter to check out the new Cham Pale collection that I was so excited about, and instead walked out with two new things from the Stylishly Yours collection.
The Cham Pale products were not the pretty nudes that I thought they were going to be, but they were rather shimmery renditions of pale neutral colors. Nothing really appealed to me, except for the highlighting powders which were pretty, but also a little pricey.

From Stylishly yours I picked up two of the cream colour bases, Virgin Isle and Tickle me Pink.
Ever since kelanjo spoke about her love for virgin isle, a once discontinued product, I knew I had to get it when it was re-promoted in this collection. And I am so glad I did! I also fell in love with tickle me pink, a bright bubblegum pink.

These CCBs look pretty scary in the pan and when swatched, but when blended and sheered out they are absolutely gorgeous. The colors are beautiful - tickle me pink is a dolly, baby pink that likens to Well Dressed on crack, and virgin isle is a rosy orange coral similar to the Korres Orange blush that I talked about here

These CCBs are not your ordinary cream color bases. They are much more pigmented, and whereas most of the permanent CCBs are shimmery highlighters, these are pure color. They are kind of a mix between the creme blushes and the cream color bases. These are absolutely stunning on the cheeks, as they blend in perfectly to the skin, but they also work on the lips as a sort of stain. As long as you have a light hand with them, the results will be beautiful.

Here they are on my cheeks

Virgin Isle
These products are so unique and lovely to use; I can't say enough good things about them. If you are to get anything from the new MAC collections, get these! But, of course, that is just my opinion =)

What have you guys picked up from the new collections?

A blush love...reignited

A few days ago I was rummaging through the drawers that hold my makeup, and I found this bad boy sitting in the back of one of them:

KORRES BLUSH - ORANGE

I used to use this all the time and I was absolutely obsessed with it.
Then, while I was on a vacation, I dropped it.
A once beautiful blush now looks like this, and has since been pushed aside by other, more visually appealing blushers.

It's a sad sight to see, and I realize that it is stupid to avoid using a blush that I love just because it is now in ten pieces instead of one. I cannot bear to throw it away and get a new one because I hate to waste things andd it was damn expensive ($24 @ korres.com). For now I have just been carefully dabbing my brush into it and using it as I normally would, but the powdery remnants are way too messy. I am trying to look for one of those cheap plastic makeup containers to keep it in - goodbye simple chic packaging =(

Anyways, onto the blush itself. It's freaking amazing. I know it looks pretty scary in the pan, and with a name like "orange", I don't know how many people will be wanting to put this on their face. Even when swatched the color doesn't seem like it would be too flattering on the cheeks. BUT, when you put this on it is absolutely gorgeous. It's a bright coral-peach, much more than just orange, and it gives you the most amazing glowing from within, bright, cutesy cheeks. It works in the winter to give a just came in from the cold look and also in the summer for a bright peachy glow that looks great with a tan.

This blush is super pigmented and has teeny tiny micro-glitter particles in it which is probably what produces the incredible glow. It is one of my favorite blushes ever and probably one of the most unique colors that I own. Ahh falling in love with it all over again =)

Happy thanksgiving! I am currently overdosing on pumpkin pie as I write, it's great.

Have you guys ever broken your makeup? What do you do with it?

Brit Wit Cream Blush

Hello all! Hope you are enjoying your weekend =)

Today I wanted to share with you my love for a particular cream blush by MAC,

BRIT WIT

It's a beautiful pinky-mauve color that I think would work great for the fall/winter season. Cream blushes are great because of their texture - they add pure color to your cheeks without the powdery mess. This means you can build it up to the intensity you want without worrying about cakey-ness. The dewy finish is perfect for winter time when you don't want your skin looking dry. MAC cream blushes in particular look and feel quick sticky, so you might at first be hesitant to put them on your face. However, I can say that once you have blended it out onto your skin, using a brush or with your fingers, it is weightless and smooth to touch.

Since Brit Wit is in the category of plumy pinks that are a little darker/more intense than I usually wear, I will wear it alone, without any color on my eyes and with a natural lip. Sometimes I also wear it with a subtle light gold eyeshadow like LORAC's serenity, which is in the same color family as all that glitters by MAC. I love the gold and plum combo!

The camera isn't picking it up as well as I'd like - in person the color is slightly deeper.

I'd really love to get some of the other cream blushes by MAC... any suggestions? =)
